The Iasa CITA-Professional is a rigorous and independent board-certified that it is validated by the community of practicing architects. On successful completion of this board review, certification is award by a professional association, rather than companies, vendors, or governments.  

This CITA-P certification enhances the credibility and capability of successful candidates while providing assurance to employers that CITA-Professionals are able to practice and lead large multimillion dollar projects and programs.

The Certified IT Architect - Professional (CITA-P) is the first level of board certification for experienced architects.

Path to Certification

A minimum of 10 years in the industry as a practicing architect. CITA-Associate level certificate is highly recommended but not mandatory. Extensive documentation is required prior to being scheduled to sit this review board.

Coaching – Registration to be considered for CITA-P board level review & certification includes a set number of coaching sessions with an IASA CITA-Distinguished architect. This process is designed to provide guidance to the candidate as they prepare their materials for the board. The coach also serves as a gate keeper to ensure that candidates are ready in their career to successfully pass the board. 

Mentoring – Iasa Global offers a dedicated mentoring service for business and technology architects who are mid-career and seeking to advance toward the prestigious CITA-Professional or CITA-Distinguished certifications. Recognizing that these certifications require significant depth of experience and expertise, this program provides tailored guidance and support from seasoned professionals. Through personalized mentoring, participants receive strategic career advice, skills development plans, and actionable insights to help them grow their capabilities and confidently progress toward achieving these elite certification levels within the architecture profession. Extensive documentation is required prior to being scheduled to sit this review board. A full manual and a recorded mock board is available following registration.

The CITA-P credential is achieved by passing a board of your peers who have obtained the CITA-P level or higher already. The board is a two/three hour review session (online or onsite) including:

a. 30 minute presentation given by the candidate
b. 40 minute Q&A Session on documentation provided and presentation made
c. 10 minute break
d. 40 minute final Q&A session

A decision is made by the independent board and conveyed to the candidate by the moderator within 48 hours of the review board.

The Iasa Continuing Education Program exists to ensure that architects are continually learning new skills and keeping up-to-date with state of the art practice. The Certified IT Architect – Associate (CITA-A) level requires individuals to maintain an active Full Iasa Membership. Credential holders are also required to collect at least 80 hours of CEU’s (Continuing Education Units) the equivalent of two work weeks, bi-annually. In combination with obtaining CEU’s, the credential holder is also required to have worked as an architect for a period of at least 16-weeks. Who Should Take this Cert

CITA-Professional is targeted at senior practicing architects with up to 10 years experience in the industry. Successful candidates should have CITA-A level qualifications or equivalent and demonstrate in-depth knowledge of Iasa's 5 pillars of Architecture
