Topic 1: How the BTABoK Will Transform Your Architecture Practice. Paul Preiss, Founder & CEO, Iasa Global.
The goal of any architect or architecture team is to deliver value to their business and/or customer. The Business Technology Architecture BoK represents a major leap forward in actual tools and techniques to make this possible, while at the same time developing a more mature architecture practice. From the beginning the BTABoK has been designed around people, instead of on process or just deliverables. But 3.0 which has been long in coming makes it much easier to connect an architecture practice (teams) around value delivery from both a business and a technology perspective. This is absolutely essential in modern businesses of any size.

The unique value proposition of the BTABoK is that is designed to be descriptive and practically based first. Thus it avoids problems of frameworks like TOGAF, which are proscriptive and top down. Instead it makes it much easier to implement architecture frameworks if the team desires while at the same time connecting concepts of digital customers, digital business models and digital employees with the more traditional goals of technology and agility. The BTABoK provides many tools to help architects think and facilitate through design thinking and through its structured canvas approach and stakeholder driven architecture while retaining compatibility with things like Disciplined Agile, SAFe or other more IT driven frameworks. In addition it provides a clear career path and engagement model for a team of any size (it has been adopted and adapted in many fortune 100 companies).

In this session you will learn:
- How to maximize design decisions from architecturally significant requirements for the enterprise to the smallest software decisions
- How to achieve maximum stakeholder success with minimum effort
- How to apply patterns at all levels of scope including integration, reference architectures and frameworks
- How to plan, make and achieve a truly successful architecture team without the common value and trust problems
